Previewing Carlston Harris Vs. Kalinn Williams
Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

Carlston Harris (19-5) and Kalinn “Khaos” Williams (14-3) serve as the co-main event for UFC Fight Night: Barboza vs. Murphy. The fight pits the American against the Guyanian MMA brawler, giving fans a glimpse into what could potentially be solid welterweight fighters.

But the bout is more than that. It’s a fight between two contrasting styles. One fighter is an all-around offensive weapon, relying on takedowns and well-timed strikes to win. The other is a pure striker, delivering heavy blows to defeat his opponents.

The co-main event should be an exciting affair for UFC fans. After all, it features two excellent fighters that win in different ways. Here’s a preview of what to expect with Williams vs. Harris.

The Tape on “Khaos” Williams

Kalinn Williams is well-known for punishing his opponents with his fists. In fact, three of his UFC victories were by knockout (via punches). You will never see “Khaos” attempt a submission, nor will you see him perform a takedown. For the 30-year-old, it’s all about strikes.

However, there’s one issue with his striking. Williams isn’t the most accurate striker in the UFC, only landing 39% of significant strikes per minute. That can cause ‘chaos’ for the Detroit native in a fight, leaving him vulnerable to defeat.

Therefore, he must land his strikes to defeat Carlston Harris. That means owning the center of the octagon and using well-timed punches to win. If he truly wants to “take Harris’s soul from his body,” he can’t go free-swinging. Otherwise, he’ll be left vulnerable.

The Tape On Carlston Harris

On the other hand, there’s Carlston Harris, who’s a more balanced fighter. He loves to grapple with his opponents (2.05 takedowns per 15 minutes) and throws in some strikes in his fighting. But he’s more alike to Williams than one would think.

He’s an aggressive fighter who starts off striking his opponents. He isn’t afraid to take big swings and go for the kill. However, his technique could be better, with more tailored striking helping him win fights.

But the Guyanian fighter must be careful against Williams in his fight. In his match against Shavkat Rakhmonov, he didn’t defend himself against the Kazhakstani fighter’s strikes well, leaving him knocked out in the first round. “Khaos” will come out swinging and is more unhinged, which could cause trouble.

The Verdict

If Carlston Harris isn’t well-prepared for incoming strikes, this will be a fight that Kalinn Williams wins. He might be more reckless with his strikes, going all-in during every bout. However, the Guyanian fighter tends to leave his guard open, which provides a golden opportunity for “Khaos” to win.

There’s a possibility that the fight could end in the first round as well. Both fighters are aggressive and will go for the kill. With a well-timed strike, it could be the “knockout of the night” and the fighter will boost their standing.
