Merab Dvalishvili defends his UFC Bantamweight Title against Sean O’Malley at UFC 316 on June 7, as MMA pros gave their predictions.

Dvalishvili won the first fight by unanimous decision to become the champion at UFC 306. O’Malley suffered his second UFC defeat following his first against Marlon Vera, as Suga underwent hip surgery. Dvalishvili defended the belt successfully by giving Umar Nurmagomedov his first loss. O’Malley has promised to be better this time, having also trained with Demetrious Johnson. However, Merab has promised to humble O’Malley, setting the narrative for an intriguing fight. Here is how MMA insiders saw the fight playing out.

Predictions

“At the moment, Merab looks unbeatable. He looks so amazing. He has such a high pace that no one can handle, so I think he wins again,” said Jack Hermansson, UFC middleweight.

“Sean O’Malley gets in there and gets the finish this time around. He will KO Merab, which is the way to beat him,” said Mario Bautista, UFC bantamweight.

“I’ll go with Merab by decision,” said Beneil Dariush, UFC lightweight.

“I think Merab is too good and too well-rounded for O’Malley. I think he’s going to take O’Malley down and control him and get the win again,” said Dustin Jacoby, UFC light heavyweight.

“I’m going with Merab. I love his style, and he is so hard to beat as he puts in his wrestling and striking so nicely,” said Gillian Robertson, UFC strawweight.

“I do think Sean O’Malley will do better in this fight, but Merab is too hard to keep off you, and I think he wins a decision,” said John Castaneda, UFC bantamweight.

“Merab Dvalishvili by decision. I just don’t think O’Malley can be able to defend the takedowns again,” said Julian Erosa, UFC featherweight.
