Pyfer Inflicts More Misery On Adesanya

Joe Pyfer stopped former two-time champion Israel Adesanya via a TKO at 4:18 of Round 2 at UFC Seattle. 

The victory means Pyfer moves into the Top 5 while Adesanya grapples with a career-worst four-fight losing streak. Adesanya looked rejuvenated early, utilizing a 5-inch reach advantage to pepper Pyfer with calf kicks and stiff jabs. He successfully neutralised Pyfer’s power.

In the second round, the distance closed. Pyfer began landing heavy hooks that forced Adesanya into clinching. After a successful takedown, Pyfer showcased a strong ground game. He moved from mount to the back, eventually flattening Adesanya out.

Following a barrage of unanswered ground-and-pound strikes, the referee stopped the fight. Pyfer has now won four straight bouts, positioning himself as a legitimate threat to current champion Khamzat Chimaev. In his post-fight comments, Pyfer revealed that he had almost taken his life just this month.

“It’s like I could see this moment happening. I almost took my own life a couple of weeks ago. I found God, and I hate crying man. So, I’m going to keep it together. God restored me baby. That’s the only reason I’m here … All glory to God for this victory, or else I’d be dead in a ditch somewhere,” Pyfer said
