Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold has been matched against top-ranked contender Joe Pyfer in a catchweight wrestling bout at Real American Freestyle 13 on Sept. 19 at Watsco Center in Miami.
The promotion announced the matchup on social media, per MMA Mania. Rockhold enters winless in RAF after dropping his debut to Colby Covington via technical fall at RAF 5 earlier this year. The California native has struggled across combat sports over the past eight years, with his only recent victory coming against Joe Schilling in Karate Combat.
Pyfer will step onto the mats for the first time in RAF competition. The UFC middleweight contender is riding high after knocking out former champion Israel Adesanya in the main event of UFC Seattle, a finish that likely has his confidence peaking heading into the wrestling match.
RAF 13 is scheduled to be headlined by a bout between Covington and Belal Muhammad. Before the Miami card, RAF 12 takes place Aug. 22 in Cleveland.
