Joe Rogan believes Sergei Pavlovich poses a serious problem for Alex Pereira's heavyweight title ambitions at UFC 335.
The UFC commentator addressed the upcoming non-title bout during Saturday's UFC 332 broadcast, per MMA Junkie, describing Pavlovich as a dangerous obstacle in Pereira's path to a rematch with heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane. Pereira is attempting to become a three-division UFC champion after previously holding belts at middleweight and light heavyweight.
"Pavlovich is a huge, huge heavyweight with gigantic power and fantastic boxing," Rogan said during the broadcast. He noted that Pereira remains determined to secure another shot at Gane despite losing their first encounter, but must first navigate the Russian knockout artist.
Pavlovich has never held UFC gold but carries the kind of finishing ability that makes him a live threat against any heavyweight. Pereira has refused to return to light heavyweight, instead focusing entirely on capturing the heavyweight strap.
The winner likely moves into title contention, though Pereira's star power gives him a clearer path to Gane than Pavlovich would receive. UFC 335 also features Diego Lopes against Charles Oliveira at lightweight.
