Joe Rogan has defended Josh Hokit's inflammatory remarks at UFC Freedom 250, arguing the heavyweight contender turned controversy into instant stardom.

Hokit made headlines for comments about Michelle Obama during his post-fight interview at the White House event, drawing widespread criticism. On a recent episode of his podcast, Rogan addressed critics who expected him to push back during the live broadcast, per BJ Penn. "The guy just beat the f— out of Derrick Lewis what am I gonna do?" Rogan said. "It was hilarious."

Rogan's Take On Hokit's Career Strategy

Rogan noted Hokit has repeated similar remarks in previous interviews and framed the controversy as a calculated career move. "He did a smart thing. I mean, it's very rude but it's a smart thing because we're all still talking about it," Rogan continued, according to the report. "Otherwise, it's just another fight from the night. Diego Lopes knocked out Steve Garcia, nobody is talking about Diego Lopes and Steve Garcia in the regular news, they're talking about him."

The UFC commentator predicted the attention will translate to tangible benefits when Hokit next competes. "The next time he shows up at a UFC event the crowd are going to go bananas, he's a superstar and he probably doubled his income," Rogan said, per Bloody Elbow.

Hokit stopped Derrick Lewis at UFC Freedom 250 to extend his heavyweight winning streak. He has not publicly responded to Rogan's comments.
