Ahead of her return to combat sports, Ronda Rousey has pledged a friendly bet with her former employee, the UFC.

This past Tuesday it was surprisingly announced that former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will return to combat sports after 10 years away to take on longtime rival, Gina Carano.

The fight between the two former MMA stars will take place at the Intuit Dome and be broadcast live on Netflix, promoted by Jake Paul‘s promotion, Most Valuable Promotions.

One of the most surprising aspects of the fight between the female stars is that it won’t take place under the UFC banner, but that isn’t from a lack of trying, at least on the side of Rousey.

Rousey bets her Netflix fight against Carano outperforms UFC viewership on Paramount

According to ‘Rowdy’ Ronda, she attempted to get Dana White on board for a fight against ‘Conviction’ Carano, but she explained that things didn’t quite work out for that.

In the past, the UFC boss seemed to have left the door at least half open for Ronda to return to the promotion, however, things have clearly changed.

And ahead of what is set to be quite the spectacle on Netflix, in spite of how well past their primes both fighters will be, Rousey has cheekily pledged a bet with her former employee.

“This rivalry has so many layers – Netflix isn’t playing around – bet you we can beat Paramount plus’ UFC numbers,” Rousey said in a post on X.

At the start of this year, the premier MMA promotion began their new era with Paramount after signing a whopping $7.7 billion deal with them late last year.

They kicked off with an impressive UFC 324 event, which recorded record-breaking numbers as 7.18 million households tuned in for the event.

Rousey, though, is extremely confident that her much anticipated comeback to the sport will comfortably eclipse those numbers, potentially being the biggest MMA event of the year, which would be some achievement.

Rousey vs Carano could kick off a huge future for MMA on Netflix

At this point, it is unclear whether MVP are just dipping their toes in the world of MMA or if they are preparing to attempt to take the sport by storm.

With Netflix reportedly having over 300 million subscribers worldwide, the event will be easily accessible for the masses, which could kick off a huge new era for the sport.
