Raul Rosas Jr. secured the biggest win of his career Saturday night at UFC Vegas 121, stopping Raoni Barcelos with a fifth-round knockout that turned an instant Fight of the Year candidate into a medical emergency at the Meta Apex in Las Vegas.

The 21-year-old delivered a bizarre finish at 1:38 of the final frame, extending his winning streak to six fights in a bantamweight clash that had Barcelos ahead on all three judges' scorecards entering the fifth. After clinching along the cage, Rosas swept one leg and dragged the veteran to the canvas. Within seconds, Barcelos went limp. Rosas immediately recognized something was wrong and waved for referee Herb Dean to stop the fight, as MMA Fighting first reported.

Barcelos Awake After Terrifying Finish

Multiple replays offered no clear explanation for how Barcelos lost consciousness. He appeared to strike his head or neck on the fence during the takedown, creating an uncomfortable scene as medical personnel rushed the cage. The Brazilian remained motionless on the mat before being placed on a stretcher and carried out. Brazilian UFC correspondent Evelyn Rodrigues later reported that Barcelos was awake and conscious after being transported to a local hospital for evaluation, according to MMA Mania.

The grim ending overshadowed what had been a brutal, back-and-forth war between two bantamweights on five-fight winning streaks. Rosas landed cleaner shots in his first UFC headliner, but the 39-year-old Barcelos connected at a higher clip through four rounds. Both men entered the fifth gassed and bloodied, with Rosas sporting a massive cut on the bridge of his nose. The finish gave Rosas a sixth straight victory and his first main event win. UFC has not released an official statement on Barcelos' condition or the exact cause of the knockout.
