It Wasn’t Always Easy for Sam Patterson

Sam Patterson wasn’t always the killing machine that he has proven to be in the past few years. He honed his craft fighting for BRAVE CF before getting his shot on the Contender Series in 2022. With a winning performance, the Watford man debuted in London with a lot of hype, however, was somewhat caught in the headlights and finished brutally, in just 1:15.

A move up to welterweight 10 months after his debut loss saw Patterson back to winning ways, this time against Yohan Lainesse in his opponent’s back garden. Next came the heavy hitting Kiefer Crosbie, however, his ground game was no match for The Future, as he choked to submission.

Next on the agenda was Danny Barlow, who lasted 3:10 with Patterson before a TKO victory for the Brit.

Paris Perfection for Patterson

Stepping into the Accor Arena in the French capital, Patterson came into it in unexpected territory. Usually, he’s the bigger man in the octagon, standing 6’3, however, Trey Waters presented him with a different challenge, standing 6’5.

Did it matter for Patterson? If it did, he didn’t show it. Patterson’s jab was on point, but it was the straight right hand that did all the damage for the Brit. A 1-2 had Waters on wobbly legs and his crisp boxing, mixing it up between single and double jabs alongside punishing back hands forced the referee into what was a fantastic stoppage. Waters can have no complaints about the stoppage.

After the bout, Patterson noted that dealing with his opponent’s height “wasn’t easy, but I got the job done“.

As for what’s next for Sam Patterson, he made it clear. He wants Neil Magny next. He stated that he knows it’s a “ step up in competition” but went on to say, “I’m ready“. Magny is booked, however, the call out remains a solid one.
