Khabib Nurmagomedov recently suggested a bold rule change to be introduced in the UFC which Sean O’Malley has hilariously disagreed with.

Since shockingly retiring from MMA in 2020 following a dominant win over Justin Gaethje, Khabib Nurmagomedov has firmly remained in the sport, continuing his legacy as a coach.

‘The Eagle’ recently opened up a super facility in the mountains of Dagestan where he will continue to train the likes of Islam Makhachev and Umar Nurmagomedov as they look to match his legacy in the sport.

And because he is still so closely connected to the sport, Nurmagomedov still gets regular offers to return to action, but will likely never return.

Sean O’Malley slams Khabib’s rule change idea

In a recent interview on the Hustle Show, Nurmagomedov explained what he would change in the UFC if he stepped into Dana White‘s shoes for a day.

And with that, the Russian explained that he would make MMA fights one long round instead of breaking the fight up into separate rounds, similar to how Pride used to run their fights.

Of course, this sort of rule change would massively benefit fighters with wrestling heavy fight styles as it would allow them to control the fight for longer instead of the position getting reset.

And after his idea was slammed by Chael Sonnen, former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley has also slammed the idea with a hilarious reaction.

“It would definitely be good for his style, you know, you take a motherf—– down and they get up for free. For me, there should be more breaks, give me a f—— break every time they take me down, give me two and a half minutes to recover too,” O’Malley hilariously said on the Overdogs Podcast.

Sean O’Malley sends Conor McGregor some words of advice

Despite no longer holding a UFC title, ‘Suga’ Sean is still regarded as one of the biggest active stars in the sport because of his personality and fight style.

During his come up, he was often compared to Conor McGregor because of their striking similarities, and O’Malley always credited ‘The Notorious’ as one of his biggest idols.

Although McGregor has been out of action for a substantial amount of time now, this week, he made huge steps towards a comeback to the sport when he officially re-entered the drug testing pool.

And ahead of his long-awaited comeback to the Octagon, O’Malley has advised McGregor that he ditches unnecessary distractions, like ‘Suga’ did ahead of his rematch with Merab, including social media.
