Jean Silva finished Jose Miguel Delgado in the third round at Noche UFC on Saturday and called for a shot at the featherweight title next.
Silva dropped Delgado late in the main event at Glendale, Arizona, then locked in a one-armed rear-naked choke to force the tap, per MMA Fighting. The Brazilian started slowly but closed the fight with a flourish, earning his most significant win at 145 pounds.
After the finish, Silva called for the winner of the upcoming Alexander Volkanovski vs. Movsar Evloev title fight. Whether the promotion grants that request remains unclear, but Silva made his case with the emphatic stoppage.
The co-main event saw Brandon Moreno defeat Joseph Morales, while Alexa Grasso returned to winning form earlier on the card. Tommy McMillen also picked up another finish, continuing his rapid rise through the rankings.
Silva now waits to hear if his name enters the title conversation when Volkanovski and Evloev settle their business later this year.
