UFC 310 is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena.
In the main event, competing for the Flyweight championship is Alexandre Pantoja (28-5 MMA, 12-3 UFC) who will square off against Kai Asakura (21-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC). This Fight will be Asakura’s UFC debut.
Pantoja is one of the few undisputed flyweight champions. In 2023, he won the championship from Brandon Moreno. This will be his third bout to defend his belt. Alexandre Pantoja won his 125-pound title on a split decision in the win over Moreno. Since then, Pantoja has won against Brandon Royval in December and Steve Egceg in May. Both of those fights were ended in decision victories.
In a recent interview with UFC.com, Alexandre Pantoja said, “Kai Asakura is an amazing fighter. He’s fought so many good guys, and especially because he’s coming from bantamweight, I’m expecting a huge opponent.”
Asakura recently signed with UFC this summer. Dating all the way back to 2021, Asakura is 5-1 in his past 6 fights. One of Asakura’s assets is his hard hitting. Kai Asakura is a two-time Bantamweight champion. The drawback for Asakura is the fact that he has not fought since December TKO victory against Juan Archuleta.
In his quest to become a top-notch fighter, Kai Asakura expressed his thoughts in a recent interview with UFC.com, “My goal is to become the UFC champion, so when I was offered the chance to fight Pantoja, it was the first step to get to my goal, so there was no reason to refuse the fight. On top of that, I believe in myself, I believe I can win this fight, so there was no reason to hesitate,”
According to Forbes.com, the favorite to win this fight is Pantoja by -235. That changed over time. As of today, Pantoja is favored by -275, Asakura is listed at +200 underdog.
Most analyst predict that Pantoja will win claim the flyweight title by decision.
It’ll be interesting to see if Asakura can use his talents to raise his star in the UFC as a newcomer in this flyweight title match.
The fight will be held Saturday night at 8 p.m.
