The UFC is heading to Nashville on Saturday night where two hard-hitting finishers will collide in the headliner.
July 12 sees the return of the UFC’s most prolific knockout artist as Derrick Lewis steps inside the Octagon for the first time in 2025.
Along with the returns of UFC fan favorites like Stephen Thompson and Nate Landwehr, there are several fighters on this card who will be looking to earn the biggest wins of their careers.
That is certainly the case for the other half of the main event as Tallison Teixeira faces Lewis in a matchup that could skyrocket him up the heavyweight ladder.
Teixeira impressed on his UFC debut where he stopped Justin Tafa in the opening minute but anyone who had watched him before knew that the towering Brazilian was capable of running through his opponents.
Giddy up!

Before appearing on Dana White’s Contender Series in September of 2024, Tallison Teixeira recorded five consecutive wins to build his pro record.
His last two fights before he arrived at the UFC Apex for the world’s most intense job interview took place in LFA, where he recorded both wins via first-round knockout.
Teixeira’s final LFA outing came at LFA 183 in May of last year where he faced off with Matheus Fonseca in Rio de Janeiro.
Shortly after his incredible performance in the main event of UFC 300, light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira was in attendance, which clearly, Teixeira was aware of before the fight had started.
The towering 6’7” frame of the Brazilian immediately caused his opponent issues as he picked away at Fonseca from range while keeping him against the fence.
Teixeira sent his opponent stumbling back with a jab and as Fonseca started to move away from his big follow-up shots, he walked right into a head kick that sent him to the floor, ending the fight inside of two minutes.
The 25-year-old went on to mimic the iconic walkout of Pereira by drawing his bow and shouting while releasing the arrow.
Derrick Lewis may be one of the most experienced heavyweights in the division but this matchup in Nashville seems tailor made to produce Tallison Teixeira’s coming out party.
‘The Black Beast’ can never be counted out but while he’s still one of the scariest knockout artists on the roster, he has also been on the wrong end of a fair few KOs or TKOs in recent years.
Derrick Lewis’ Last 5 Defeats | Event & Date | Result |
Jailton Almeida | UFC Sao Paulo – Nov, 2023 | Unanimous Decision |
Serghei Spivac | UFC Vegas 68 – Feb, 2023 | Submission – Round 1 |
Sergei Pavlovich | UFC 277 – July, 2022 | KO – Round 1 |
Tai Tuivasa | UFC 271 – Feb, 2022 | KO – Round 2 |
Ciryl Gane | UFC 265 – Aug, 2021 | TKO – Round 3 |
Lewis’ win over Alexander Volkov may have shown that he can beat much taller opponents but with how dangerous Teixeira has shown himself to be, there might not be an opportunity for a late comeback this time around.
