Three fighters miss weight ahead of UFC Vegas 95

UFC Vegas 95 made it through the weigh-ins without a fight getting called off, but three will not commence as originally planned. A trio of fighters weighed in over their contracted limit, causing their respective bouts to proceed as a catchweight.

Of the three fighters who missed weight, women's bantamweight Chelsea Chandler stuck out by tipping the scales at 141 pounds, a full five pounds over the divisional non-title limit of 136. The fight will surprisingly move forward with Chandler forfeiting 30 percent of her purse to her opponent, Yana Santos.

The weight miss marks the second consecutive for Chandler, who weighed in at 137 pounds for her last fight with Josiane Nunes. The 33-year-old has not successfully cut down to 135 pounds since her professional debut in 2018.

Chandler was joined by welterweight Danny Barlow and featherweight Chepe Mariscal as the three fighters who were unable to weigh in on point. Barlow came in a quarter pound over the welterweight non-title limit at 171.25 pounds with Mariscal officially recording a three-pound miss at 149 pounds.

Barlow is one of the biggest favorites of the night as he will be facing short-notice debutant Nikolay Veretennikov on the main card. Mariscal is also a favorite, though not nearly as big as Barlow, against veteran Damon Jackson in the co-main event.

Unsurprisingly, Jackson and Santos sounded off on social media in reaction to their respective opponents missing weight. Santos was particularly upset about the sizeable weight miss from Chandler while Jackson expressed understandable irritation on his Instagram considering he accepted the fight on short notice.

The 17 other fighters competing on the fight card weighed in on point, including main event heavyweights Marcin Tybura and Serghei Spivac. The prelims will begin at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN+ with the main card following shortly after at 7 p.m. ET.
