While the UFC is remembered mostly for its fighting, the fighter’s personality sure does add to its memorability. One-liners from fighters are something that the fans take away from most UFC events and continue using it forever.

One of the reasons the UFC remains popular worldwide hinges on its marketing and the promotions before the fight. The promotion has provided its fans with some legendary press conferences and interviews.

This allows the fans to understand the fighter better. It also gives the fighters an avenue to express their personality further. Apart from fighting, a fighter’s personality and the way they talk trash to their opponents have been determining factors to sell an event. Check out some of the best one-liners in MMA history.

Best one-liners in UFC history

10. “I’m not surprised motherf*ckers” by Nate Diaz

Nate Diaz is one of the most real fighters in MMA. The Stockton Slugger is easily a fan-favorite for the attitude that he brings into the octagon. He has a very nonchalant, “I don’t give an F” kind of attitude.

He has made the highlights many times, but this line after the first fight against Conor McGregor is easily one of the best one-liners. After submitting the undefeated McGregor at UFC 196 after a hiatus, commentator Joe Rogan went up to Nate to ask his reaction to the win, and he hit us with the legendary line:

I'm not surprised motherf*ckers Nate Diaz at UFC 196

It still lives on in the minds of the fight fans. Julianna Pena after defeating Amanda Nunes at UFC 269 uttered the exact same line, paying tribute to Diaz.

9. “It was super necessary,” by Jorge Masvidal

This line came at the post-fight press conference of UFC 239, where Jorge Masvidal took on former Bellator champion Ben Askren. This fight makes the highlight reel as “Street Jesus” knocked out Askren under 5 seconds, making it the fastest knockout in the history of the promotion.

Masvidal rushed in as the bell rang and hit Askren with a flying knee that put him to sleep. But the controversial part was when “Gamebred” continued to throw punches when Askren was already out. A reporter asked the fighter why he threw those unnecessary punches in the end, and Masvidal replied:

It was super necessary. Jorge Masvidal on the extra punches he threw at Ben Askren

The knockout helped Masvidal become a superstar and land the BMF title fight against Nate Diaz. He also went on to headline multiple PPVs and eventually retired from the UFC in 2023.

8. “Concieve. Believe. Achieve,” involving Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping

There aren’t many fighters that have given MMA meme creators content like the former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold. Luke is an awkward and not very witty fighter. Sadly, he was matched up against one of the best trash-talkers in MMA history, Michael Bisping.

While Luke and Michael’s fighting skills are debatable, there was no doubt that Bisping was going to destroy Luke in the press conference absolutely. This is how Bisping roasted Rockhold:

Concieve, believe, achieve, shut the f**k up. Michael Bisping via UFC 199 pre-fight press conference

This is one of the best UFC one-liners. In the end, Bisping knocked out Rockhold in the first round to become the first British UFC champion. Rockhold never regained the title again.

7. “I’m not impressed by your performance,” by Georges St-Pierre

After Matt Hughes won the fight against former champion B.J. Penn, Georges St Pierre stepped into the octagon to have a word with his next opponent. GSP is widely regarded as the greatest welterweight fighter of all time.

While GSP is not known for his trash-talking, this moment was for sure going down the history book. After he heard a call out from Matt, GSP took the mic and gave one of the simplest lines but had a lot of significance. He said:

I'm very glad you won that fight, Matt, but..I'm not impressed with your performance. Georges St-Pierre to Matt Hughes

GSP lost the first fight to Hughes via submission. However, he avenged the loss shortly after delivering the most simplest UFC one-liner in history.

6. “Touch butt with the dork in the park,” by Nate Diaz

It is fair to say that UFC 196 is one of the most iconic events in the history of the promotion. It generated a crazy amount of Pay-per-view, making it the top 5 PPV of all time in the sport. This was another one-liner from the Stockton Slugger.

Both Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz were dissing each other about their training partners, and Nate spoke about a video where Conor was training which looked like they were doing some kind of drill. This is how Nate described it:

Playing touch butt with the dork in the park. Nate Diaz to Conor McGregor

This one-liner received a great laugh from the crowd. McGregor and Diaz went on to have multiple entertaining segments with each other. Fight fans wouldn’t mind watching a trilogy fight among the guys.

5. “Who da fook is that guy,” by Conor McGregor

McGregor is not called “The Notorious One” for nothing. He is undoubtedly the best showman and one of the greatest trash talker of all time. This line came in the iconic press conference when McGregor challenged Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight belt in his pursuit to become the two-division champion.

When a reporter asked who Conor would like to fight on the stage of many fighters, Jeremy Stephens volunteered by saying it was him as he was the “hardest hitting” fighter on the stage. Conor turned around and said:

Who da fook is that guy?! Conor McGregor via UFC 205 press conference

Years later, McGregor would call out Stephens for a fight after witnessing his boxing performance against Jose Aldo. This also remains one of the most iconic trash talks of McGregor’s career.

4. “I luv you Maike,” by Yoel Romero

This is easily the best word out of Yoel Romero’s career. After his victory against Chris Weidman, Yoel was talking to Joe Rogan as Michael Bisping gave him the thumbs down and flipped the bird at the middleweight fighter.

In response to Bisping, Yoel said:

I love you Maikel, see you soon boi. Yoel Romero via UFC 205 octagon interview

Despite the scary one-liner, Bisping and Romero never fought inside the octagon. Instead, Bisping lost the title to GSP and Romero never tasted the undisputed belt due to losses against Robert Whittaker.

3. “This is numba one bullsh*t,” by Khabib Nurmagomedov

Though Khabib is not known to be a trash talker, his words with his broken English accent sometimes make it scary or funny. This line was so amazing that T-shirts were made out of this.

While the UFC and the Dagestani had problems with fighter contracts and his title shot. Talking to the media about whether Conor or Khabib deserves the fight, Khabib gave the iconic:

This is numba one bullsh*t Khabib Nurmagomedov on Conor McGregor fight

Eventually, the duo would fight at UFC 229. Khabib dominated McGregor to retain his lightweight title. This is also one of the most heated rivalries in the history of the MMA.

2. “My balls was hot,” by Derrick Lewis

This could easily have been in the first spot, and no one would have a problem with it. This was the iconic event headlined by Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. In this card, Derrick Lewis took on Alexander Volkov in a heavyweight bout and went on to give a phenomenal comeback as he knocked Volkov out.

After he won the fight, he removed his shorts. When Joe asked him about why he did that, Lewis replied:

My balls was hot. Derrick Lewis via UFC 229 octagon interview

Lewis is one of the fan-favorite fighters in the UFC. He also holds the record for the most knockouts in UFC history. However, the Conor-Khabib brawl outshined the iconic line from Lewis.

1. “Send me location,” by Khabib Nurmagomedov

If you are an MMA fan, then you have for sure used this line when you banter with your friends. This is one of UFC history’s scariest lines and the most iconic one-liner.

When Conor McGregor threw a dolly on Khabib’s bus as an act of intimidation, it caused a sensation worldwide. Khabib was filmed when this incident happened, and the Dagestani said:

Send me location.

Khabib said it as a threat to Conor to settle their beef. Yet, a line in the UFC has created an impact like this line. This line has been a go-to reply for many fans worldwide in regular conversations.
