The UFC is doubling down on its commitment to China, with a return to the country in Shanghai on August 29, 2026.

This marks the second consecutive year the promotion has held a Fight Night in the city, following a successful 2025 event at the Shanghai Indoor Stadium. That card featured a high-stakes light heavyweight main event where Johnny Walker spoiled Zhang Mingyang’s homecoming with a second-round TKO, while ex-bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling secured a decision over Brian Ortega.

Prior Card Results

Who Will Feature?

The upcoming August visit will be a massive weekend for regional talent, anchored by the fifth season of the Road to UFC tournament. The search for the next Asian MMA superstar will begin its opening round this May at the Galaxy Arena in Macau—part of a new multi-year partnership with the region—before moving to Shanghai for the semifinals on August 28, just one day before the main event.

While the official 2026 fight card remains under wraps, speculation is already swirling around former strawweight queen Zhang Weili. After a bold move to flyweight in late 2025 resulted in a tough decision loss to Valentina Shevchenko, Zhang is expected to return to the 115-pound division.
