The stakes couldn’t be clearer when lightweights Rafael “Ataman” Fiziev and Ignacio “La Jaula” Bahamondes collide in Baku, Azerbaijan in the co-main event for this upcoming UFC Fight Night card on Saturday.

For Rafael Fiziev (12-4), it’s a must-win in front of his home crowd. Once touted as a future title contender, “Ataman” now stares down a potential four-fight losing streak. Fiziev returns to familiar soil in Azerbaijan, hoping a home crowd can spark a return to form after losing twice to Justin Gaethje and once via injury to Mateusz Gamrot.

Meanwhile, Ignacio Bahamondes (17-5) faces the biggest opportunity of his UFC career, with a chance to crash into the top 15 by toppling a big-name striker and especially on enemy turf. Bahamondes has been on fire with three straight first-round finishes, all earning bonuses.

Rafael Fiziev vs Ignacio Bahamondes: Analysis

For the Azerbaijan fighter to win this fight, He needs to keep this fight in the pocket and work his angles. If Fiziev gets into a rhythm early, his superior timing and power could overwhelm the more defensively suspect Bahamondes. He should be looking for body kicks early and often, and use his smooth lateral movement to slowly drain Bahamondes.

Bahamondes has never faced someone quite like Fiziev, someone with explosively quick movements and sharp reflexes and reactions which he uses for his defence.

While the Chilean’s length and relentless volume (7.09 significant strikes landed per minute), and improved grappling make him a legitimate problem, Bahamondes still eats too many counters, absorbing 5.2 strikes per minute, and may struggle if Fiziev gets into a groove early in front of his home crowd.

Fiziev vs Bahamondes: Prediction & Betting Tips

This is a winnable fight for both, given Fiziev’s persistent cardio issues and Bahamondes’ defensive weakness.

But stylistically, Fiziev’s footwork, speed, and elite shot selection should frustrate Ignacio early and often. His speed, explosive Muay Thai base, and pinpoint striking are still elite-level tools for the Azerbaijan man. But concerns about his gas tank in later rounds persist, and he’s shown some vulnerability when pressured.

Unless Bahamondes overwhelms him late with volume, this feels like a technical showcase for Fiziev as he looks to get back in the win column.

I’m taking Rafael Fiziev moneyline as the underdog in this one at odds of 2.00. I may also combine this with my Curtis Blaydes vs Rizvan Kuniev pick which was Curtis Blaydes moneyline. This will give you a double priced at 2.88 on Betway.
