UFC Fight Night – Steve Garcia vs David Onama: Preview & Betting Tips
Steve Roberts-Imagn Images

The UFC Vegas 110 main event sees Steve “Mean Machine” Garcia clash with David “Silent Assassin” Onama on Saturday night.

Garcia’s (18-5) UFC tenure has been a rollercoaster, but his recent run shows a fighter coming into his prime. He’s riding a six-fight win streak, including brutal finishes of five of his opponents including Chase Hooper, Shayilan Nuerdanbieke and Kyle Nelson.

Onama (14-2) has rattled off impressive wins, including knockouts over Gabriel Santos and Nate Landwehr, plus a composed decision victory over elite kickboxer Giga Chikadze earlier in 2025.

Steve Garcia vs David Onama: Analysis

Garcia’s game plan is simple, he applies relentless pressure, throws volume, and hunts for the knockout. He thrives in close quarters, where he can overwhelm opponents with punches in bunches.

Onama, meanwhile, excels at reading patterns and countering. He’s at his best when he can control distance and time his shots as opponents rush in. Expect him to use feints and movement to draw Garcia into traps. If he can stay composed and avoid a firefight early, Onama’s technical advantages could pay dividends in rounds three and beyond.

However, Garcia’s constant forward motion can test Onama’s composure. If Garcia lands clean early or forces Onama to fight off the back foot, the “Mean Machine” could notch yet another violent finish.

Garcia is hittable, and when he overcommits, technical counter-strikers can exploit his defensive lapses. Still, few featherweights can match his raw intensity or fight-ending power.

Onama holds a solid grappling base, capable of mixing takedowns when opponents overextend, so he could slow Garcia down using level changes and grappling. But, his biggest weakness has historically been starting slow, and that could be costly against a fast-starting brawler like Garcia.

Garcia vs Onama: Prediction & Betting Tips

Garcia vs Onama is exactly the kind of matchup that makes UFC APEX cards so unpredictable; two dangerous featherweights with bad intentions and no interest in leaving it to the judges.

Expect fireworks from the opening bell as Garcia will press forward, looking to turn this into a brawl, while Onama will aim to control range and land clean counters. If Onama can survive the early storm, his cleaner technique and composure should allow him to take over as the fight progresses.

However, I don’t have much confidence in anyone taking Garcia’s shots cleanly right now. I’m taking Steve Garcia to win in rounds 1-3 at odds of 2.20.
