What a performance Lone’er Kavanagh showed at UFC Mexico despite jumping in on short notice to win a unanimous decision fight against the Mexican star Brandon Moreno. Early on, both fighters looked crisp, trading jabs and leg kicks, but Kavanagh’s counters were on point. Additionally, he hurt Moreno badly with a big combination in round 2.
The 26-year-old fighter dominated throughout, and by the 5th round, it was clear the English fighter had won. After five rounds, judges scored the fight (49-46, 48-47, 48-47), announcing the winner Kavanagh via unanimous decision. This win was important for the flyweight rising star as he will now get ranked in the division.
David Martinez won another fight and is also climbing the bantamweight rankings. Martinez defeated Marlon Vera by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28). Now Martinez is 3-0 in the UFC. The lightweight star Bobby Green finally came into the winning zone as he defeated Daniel Zellhuber by TKO (strikes) at 4:55 of round 2.
Edgar Chairez defeated Felipe Bunes by split decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29). Imanol Rodriguez defeated Kevin Borjas by TKO (strikes) at 4:21 of round 2. It was a massive debut for Rodriguez. Additionally, Santiago Luna defeated Angel Pacheco by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
Overall, fans saw crazy knockouts in the prelims and in the main event as well. However, the Mexican crowd saw an upset as the Mexican star Brandon Moreno lost the fight.
