Staying in the UFC isn’t just about winning—it’s about surviving. The path to maintaining a roster spot in the world’s premier MMA organization is a minefield of pressure, politics, and performance. Even a momentary slip can see a fighter ousted in favor of the next up-and-comer. Today, we learned that two more veterans have been released, according to UFC Roster Watch, further underscoring how brutal the business can be. With each departure, the message is clear: no one is safe.
Cortavious ‘Are You Not Entertained?’ Romious, a 31-year-old American bantamweight, is one of today’s casualties. Known for his flashy persona and finishing instincts, Romious entered the UFC with buzz after his showing on Dana White’s Contender Series. But the transition was rough—he went just 1-3 in the promotion. His final bout, a KO loss to ChangHo Lee, put the nail in the coffin. Despite his fun nickname and explosive style, he couldn’t fend off the roster purge.
Joining him is Brazil’s Pedro ‘Pedrinho’ Falcao, a 32-year-old striker with a background at Nova Uniao. Falcao’s UFC run also stalled at 1-2, with his most recent loss coming by decision to Victor Henry. Though technically sound and dangerous on the feet, Falcao never quite found his rhythm under the UFC lights.
He earned his contract with a TKO win over James Barnes on DWCS but couldn’t replicate that momentum in the Octagon.
These releases follow yesterday’s reports of Lucas Alexander and Caolan Loughran being let go. Dana White and the matchmakers appear to be deep into a spring cleaning of the roster, evaluating performance and upside with ruthless precision. For fighters like Romious and Falcao, the journey continues—just not in the UFC.
