UFC star Jon Jones arrested on domestic violence charge in Las Vegas

UFC star Jon Jones was arrested in Las Vegas Friday morning, a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department spokesperson told ESPN's Marc Raimondi.

Jones is being charged with misdemeanor battery domestic violence and injuring or tampering with a vehicle. He is being held at Clark County Detention Center on $8,000 bail, per online inmate records obtained by ESPN.

"The facts are still developing, we really don't know yet the full story so I'm not going to make any comment until I have a chance to talk to Jon and until we see how this plays out," Jones' adviser Richard Schaefer told ESPN's Mike Coppinger.

The 34-year-old is set to make an initial court appearance Saturday, according to Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.

Jones was also arrested in March 2020 in New Mexico on charges of aggravated DWI, negligent use of firearms, possession of an open container and driving with no proof of insurance. He pled guilty to DWI and agreed to one year of probation, four days house arrest, a $500 fine, two days of community service and a treatment program.

Jones, who hasn't fought since February 2020, recently said he's training to fight at heavyweight "sometime in the second quarter of 2022." He's seeking a heavyweight cash with Francis Ngannou.

"Fighting for the title is what I want the most, for sure. I want to fight the biggest fights," Jones said, via MMA Junkie. "I think Francis is the biggest star at heavyweight, him and I, and he has the title so that's what I want."
