A lot of people aren’t happy with the White House card. Fans wanted to see Jon Jones or Conor McGregor on the card. But both aren’t there, though stars like Ilia Topuria and Alex Pereira are. Fans wondered why the Jones vs. Pereira fight fell through, since it was the most hyped. Despite the hype, UFC veteran Michael Bisping has a different opinion on Jones vs. Pereira.
Now Ciryl Gane is facing the Brazilian fighter for the interim heavyweight belt. Bisping believes a fight between these two fighters would be more exciting than the Brazilian star facing ‘Bones.’ The UFC veteran claimed Jones would most likely just try to wrestle and control, which fans usually don’t like. Talking about it on a recent UFC show, Bisping said:
“You gotta think Jon Jones would’ve probably just tried to wrestle him. We’re gonna see Ciryl Gane and Alex Pereira having a world-class kickboxing match in 4oz gloves.”

Since both fighters prefer striking, fans know a knockout might be coming, so the bout would likely turn into a high-level stand-up battle, making it more entertaining. But the 38-year-old wanted to be on the card, since he mentioned he was in negotiations with the UFC.
Jon Jones dropped multiple X posts writing how he was really close to negotiating for the White House card. Reacting to the situation, Jones’ longtime rival Daniel Cormier said he actually felt bad for him. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Cormier explained that it seemed like Jones really wanted to fight on that historic card and was already in negotiations with the UFC. In his recent YouTube video, DC said:
“I felt bad for Jon, because it just seemed like he wanted to fight on that card, bad. Think about this, and I’ve said this time and time again. I think Jon got to fight Stipe [Miocic] because he goes, ‘Give me this legacy one, and I’ll give you the [Tom] Aspinall fight.”

The former heavyweight champ mentioned that a fight against the Brazilian star would definitely add value to his legacy. But Bones’ long absence from the octagon and also his injuries might be the reason the UFC didn’t let him fight on the card.
