The women’s GOAT debate became more disputed at UFC 322.

In the pay-per-view co-main event at Madison Square Garden, Valentina Shevchenko comfortably beat Zhang Weili to spoil the Chinese star’s two-division ambitions and cement her status as reigning flyweight queen.

While most were expecting fireworks from the UFC 322 superfight, things did not play out that way. Instead, the ex-strawweight champion was unable to impose her will on the fight and was instead outpointed in lopsided fashion across five rounds.

The result marked the latest achievement on Shevchenko’s illustrious record. And more than just adding a fellow legend to her résumé, the performance in New York City helped ‘Bullet’ match her former two-time rival in one big way.

Valentina Shevchenko shares the record for most UFC title fight wins with Amanda Nunes

With the victory at UFC 322, Shevchenko is now two successful title defenses into her second stint on the flyweight throne. She was briefly a contender in the division again after Alexa Grasso’s 2023 upset and the draw in the second of their three showdowns.

Since Shevchenko beat Grasso at UFC 306 to regain the top spot in their trilogy fight, she’s gone about enhancing an already impressive legacy.

The latest accolade came on November 15, as Shevchenko matched the legendary Amanda Nunes for title fight wins on the women’s roster.

Nunes, a former bantamweight and featherweight champ, held the record of 11 alone before Shevchenko achieved the same tally by turning away Weili’s attempt at multi-weight supremacy at UFC 322.

Amanda Nunes may get a shot at hitting 12 UFC title fight wins before Valentina Shevchenko

Had Nunes remained committed to her retirement, Shevchenko would be set to enter 2026 with her sights on separating herself from her ex-rival next time out and becoming the leader for UFC title fight wins on the women’s roster.

The Brazilian, however, is eyeing up a comeback. And given the timeline for Nunes’ expected fight with Kayla Harrison, the returning legend may get the first shot at a 12th title triumph inside the Octagon.

In her latest update, Harrison suggested that her clash of former teammates with Nunes is being discussed for the first quarter of the new year.

Harrison plans to target Shevchenko after Nunes , revealing on Jorge Masvidal’s YouTube podcast her desire to welcome ‘Bullet’ back to 135 pounds at the White House next June.
