Kevin Vallejos announced he signed a new UFC contract ahead of his featherweight showdown with Aljamain Sterling at UFC Qatar on Nov. 21.
The Argentine posted on social media that he inked the deal before the ABHA Arena bout in Doha, expressing disbelief at the financial terms. "I can't believe how much money I'm getting paid to fight," Vallejos wrote on X, according to Sherdog.
Vallejos also claimed a victory over the former bantamweight champion would earn him a shot at Alexander Volkanovski's featherweight title. Volkanovski said after defending his belt at UFC 333 that Sterling deserves the next challenge if he beats Vallejos, though the Australian named Jean Silva as the alternative if Sterling loses.
The 18-1 Vallejos has won four straight UFC bouts since earning his contract on Dana White's Contender Series in 2024, finishing three opponents. His only professional loss came to Silva in his first Contender Series appearance in 2023. Sterling enters the Qatar card with a 26-5 record after moving up from bantamweight.
UFC Qatar takes place at ABHA Arena in Doha on Nov. 21.
