Valter Walker seems to have enjoyed his role as the unofficial commissioner for Wednesday’s Hype FC event in Brazil.
The popular UFC heavyweight, who recently withdrew from a bout against Marcin Tybura, has kept himself busy.
Between a Karate Combat grappling match against Zion Clark and now this unusual stint with Hype FC’s debut in Rio de Janeiro, Walker has stayed active despite not fighting.
So far, Walker’s involvement has been anything but passive. He stepped into the ring to stop a fight he felt was not being taken seriously and even arranged a last-minute bout featuring a fan pulled straight from the crowd before the main card got underway.
Hype FC is sticking to its reputation for over-the-top antics, and Wednesday’s card has not disappointed in that regard. Even without big names like Shara Magomedov or Arman Tsarukyan taking part, the event has already turned chaotic both inside the ring and backstage.
Bryce Mitchell and Jean Silva clashed backstage just ahead of their scheduled fight, while Valter Walker was busy setting up another bare-knuckle contest right there in the arena.
The heel hook specialist called out the event’s head of security following one of the final bare-knuckle bouts. In a WWE-style twist, he then invited a fan from the crowd to step into the ring as well.
We’ve got Valter Walker on the mic while the head of security and a fan settle it right then and there in an unplanned bare-knuckle showdown. Anything really can happen in Brazil!

One fan decided to take them up on it. Looking visibly outmatched from the start, he stepped through the ropes anyway, with a referee ready to oversee what was becoming more sideshow than sport.
The fan tried to call it off early by tapping out verbally, but Walker treated it as just a break rather than an end. The match resumed before being stopped for good soon after when it became clear it had run its course.
Robin Black joked on commentary that both fighters might now have BoxRec pages thanks to their roles in what felt like an impromptu addition to Hype FC’s growing list of odd moments.
