Wang Cong attributed her sluggish start at UFC 332 to an early eye poke that temporarily affected her vision.

The Chinese flyweight dropped a unanimous decision to Natalia Silva in Saturday's title fight in Salt Lake City, per MMA Fighting. Cong showed signs of life in the final round but never recovered from the opening frame.

What Wang Said About The First-Round Incident

In her first public comments since the loss, Wang posted on Instagram that a right-eye poke during the opening round blocked her line of sight. "The line of sight is blocked and then I couldn't see it when I was poked in the right eye in the first [round]," she wrote. "Wait until later to slow down, it's too slow to enter."

The 34-year-old went on to thank supporters and vowed to return. "Where to fall, get up, go back and summarise yourself. Come on, try again," she said.

Silva captured the vacant belt after Valentina Shevchenko relinquished the strap. No rematch has been announced.
