Watch: Conor McGregor, Michael Chandler get physical in 'Ultimate Fighter' trailer

Conor McGregor has let his temper get the best of him before.

So it should be of little surprise that that a face-to-face interaction between McGregor and opposing coach Michael Chandler got physical as seen in the trailer for “The Ultimate Fighter 31,” which premieres May 30 on ESPN and ESPN+.

McGregor hasn’t fought since suffering a broken leg in his last fight against Dustin Poirier in 2021. Chandler’s last fight was also against Poirier — a third-round submission loss in November 2022 that earned Fight of the Night honors.

McGregor and Chandler are expected to fight each other at the conclusion of the "TUF" season on Aug. 15. A date and card for the bout have yet to be announced. Per the UFC’s anti-doping policy, McGregor must undergo six months of drug testing before being cleared to fight again. He has yet to be tested this year.

"TUF 31" will be the second time McGregor has coached on “The Ultimate Fighter.” His other appearance came in 2015 when he coached opposite Urijah Faber. Team Faber’s Ryan Hall was the winner of the season, which featured a cast of lightweight fighters, while Team McGregor’s Artem Lobov was the runner-up. Unlike previous seasons, McGregor and Faber never fought after the show ended.

However, McGregor got into an altercation during that season as well with future UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt, a training partner of Faber’s and an assistant coach on his team.

The translated tweet reads: “Who remembers Conor McGregor's participation as coach of #TUF22? Urijah Faber's Alpha Male team certainly does...”
