Paddy Pimblett silenced his doubters the last time he received a controversial title shot.

‘The Baddy’ is set to face Justin Gaethje for an interim lightweight belt at UFC 324 on January 24.

Some fans are furious that Paddy Pimblett is getting a title shot ahead of Arman Tsarukyan, who is the #1 at 155lbs.

The 31-year-old faced similar backlash for a very different reason when he fought for the vacant Cage Warriors featherweight title in September 2016.

How Paddy Pimblett won his first world title

Paddy Pimblett boasted an 11-1 MMA record before he fought Johnny Frachey at Cage Warriors 78.

The fight was somewhat controversial, even though the Liverpudlian was riding a seven-fight win streak.

Pimblett was deemed an unworthy title challenger by some after missing weight for his last bout.

The 7-0 UFC star had no problems making weight for the Frachey fight, which ended in a quick KO.

A terrible early takedown attempt prompted Pimblett to stand and bang with his French opponent.

Pimblett jumped into a flying knee before following it up with a straight right hand that scored a knockdown.

Nasty ground and pound forced the referee to wave off the fight after just 95 seconds.

Pimblett scaled the cage to celebrate with his fans during wild scenes he hopes to replicate at UFC 324.

Paddy Pimblett predicts early finish at UFC 324

Paddy Pimblett recently revealed his game plan is to have a striking battle at UFC 324.

The 23-3 MMA fighter is known for his submission skills, which seem like the most obvious route to victory against Justin Gaethje, a knockout artist who has been tapped out in two previous UFC title fights.

“I’ll keep it on the feet with him,” Pimblett said during a recent interview with TNT Sports.

“There’s the blueprint there to beat him, Max [Holloway] done it.

“Everyone underestimates my striking. Everyone thinks I’m just going to come in and I’m going to take him down, and I’m not.

“He had an absolute war with [Michael] Chandler, and I pieced Chandler up.

“So, I know MMA math doesn’t work, but you’ll see come January 24, when we have a perfect game plan, and we finish him within three.”
