Where is Joe Rogan? UFC 321 absence explained as legendary commentator replaced by Laura Sanko

Joe Rogan has been nowhere to be seen throughout this week in Abu Dhabi, and won’t be commentating on the UFC heavyweight title fight.

While hardcore MMA fans will know that Rogan, one of the most famous podcasters in the world, only commentates on UFC shows in the United States. However, a more casual viewer might have expected to see him at UFC 321 voicing Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane’s showdown.

He has been replaced on the broadcast team by Laura Sanko, a former Invicta fighter and BJJ black belt who is best known for commentating on Dana White’s Contender Series and Fight Night events. She joins Jon Anik and Daniel Cormier on the desk.

Joe Rogan won’t be commentating on UFC 321 tonight

Unfortunately for fans of Joe Rogan, the podcaster and comedian will be staying home tonight and is not going to be involved in UFC 321. He has given his position at the desk to Laura Sanko, who is a popular figure with fans.

Rogan decided years ago to only work numbered events in the United States, meaning he has missed a number of Tom Aspinall’s big moments around the world. He will return at UFC 322 next month in New York City for Islam Makhachev vs Jack Della Maddalena.

“He doesn’t want to travel anymore,” Michael Bisping explained during an appearance on the Jaxxon Podcast earlier in the year. “So he only does pay-per-views and then if it’s like in Australia [such as UFC 312] I’ll be doing that one.

“But then they mix it up between me, Dominick Cruz and Paul Felder  because we all want to do the pay-per-views because you know but they’ve got their team set. They’ve got Joe Rogan, Jon Anik, and Daniel Cormier. You know what I mean if one of those can’t make it then they kick it down to the B-team.”
