Dana White will announce Alex Pereira's next heavyweight fight during Nina Drama's UFC 332 Kick stream Saturday night in Salt Lake City.
The UFC CEO made the commitment after a joint Instagram video with Drama reached 25,000 comments, according to MMA Mania. The post crossed that threshold in nine hours and currently sits at 28,500 responses. "25,000 comments and you'll announce it on my Kick stream? This Saturday? In Salt Lake?" Drama asked in the clip. White replied, "Yes."
Pereira had pushed for an immediate rematch against heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane, but Gane is set to defend against Josh Hokit at UFC 334 on November 14 at Madison Square Garden. With Alexander Volkov and Rizvan Kuniev facing off at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi and Curtis Blaydes recently competing at Noche UFC, the matchmaking picture points toward No. 2 ranked Sergei Pavlovich as the available opponent for the No. 3 ranked Brazilian.
Pereira teased the news on his own social media, writing, "It's coming. Good news, that's right, a big challenge. Like I told you, if I hadn't taken risks in all my fights, I wouldn't be who I am today." The former light heavyweight champion has been vocal about his desire to capture undisputed gold at heavyweight.
A Pereira-Pavlovich bout would set up a clear title eliminator for whoever emerges victorious from Hokit-Gane. The announcement is expected during Drama's UFC 332 broadcast Saturday.
