Zion Clark has spoken out for the first time since being tapped out at Karate Combat 59.
The elite-level wrestler, who was born without legs, squared off against Valter Walker on Friday.
Johnny Walker‘s brother has become a UFC heavyweight contender by winning four consecutive fights by heel hook.
Obviously, the Brazilian’s record-breaking leg lock streak came to an end when he squared off against Zion Clark in a highly anticipated grappling match.
On Sunday, Zion Clark reacted to being quickly submitted with a rear-naked choke at Karate Combat 59.
The inspirational 28-year-old suggested that his next bout will take place in the flyweight division.
“Just remember who I am and when I’m back down at 125 competing,” Clark wrote on Instagram.
“Remember the name Zion Clark, Big Z.
“I’ll be back in my own weight class, knocking them down.”
Clark followed that up with a post reflecting on his matchup with Valter Walker, who outweighed him by well over 100lbs.
“I just wanna say thank you to everyone that has supported me up to this point,” he added. “I appreciate all the love and support that I’ve gotten from everybody.
“@valterwalkerufc nothing but respect for you. It was a battle. Till next time.
Zion Clark used his NCAA Division 1 grappling skills to dominate an able-bodied opponent, Eugene Murray (0-5), over three rounds to win his MMA debut by unanimous decision in December 2022.
Clark vowed to become a world champion afterwards, but he hasn’t fought in MMA since.
Now, the American has explained his absence from MMA and provided an update about his comeback.
“The MMA career is very much so alive,” Clark said during an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow.
“This last year, I actually had a lot of medical complications.
“So, I had to get myself better first before I decide to step back in.
“I wanna make sure that when I step back in, that I am at 110 percent.
“You should expect to see me with the gloves back on in 2026.”
