One of the best running backs in college football has entered the portal... Seemingly out of the blue.
Quinshon Judkins, a two-year starter at Ole Miss, has entered the transfer portal, per Matt Zenitz of 247Sports. Judkins started as a freshman for the Rebels in 2022, rushing for 1,567 yards and 16 touchdowns. He's been elite ever since he stepped on the field two years ago, and the timing of his departure from Oxford - or rather, his departure at all - is a shocking one.
Judkins also rushed for 1,158 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, giving him 2,725 career yards in just two seasons of college football.
There are currently no favorites to land the former PIke Road (AL) running back, but we may have an idea of the type of school Judkins will be looking at. According to multiple reports, Judkins was seeking more NIL money at Ole Miss (not just for to his own talents, but due to other Rebels receiving significantly larger deals) and could not get it.
On3's Shannon Terry speculated in a tweet. "Judkins has an On3 NIL Valuation of $535k," Terry wrote. "I suspect he is asking for 2-3x his value. Even in this climate, hard to see a RB command a $1M deal. Decisions for all involved."
It's a rough blow for Ole Miss, who was looking more and more like a playoff contender in 2024.
