Jaguar TCS Racing, winners of last year’s team championship, aim to repeat their excellent performance in Monaco.
Jaguar currently sits 8th in the teams’ championship, a far cry from their amazing performance last year.
Mitch Evans has had more success than his teammate, thanks to his win in São Paulo. He heads to the Monaco E-Prix 10th in the drivers’ championship. In comparison, Nick Cassidy has only scored at one race, meaning he is 18th in the drivers’ championship.
Jaguar’s poor performance this season shows their struggles adapting to the GEN3 EVO car. Both drivers will be eager to turn their season around and prove why they are champions.
Therefore, both drivers are keen to score several points to rise in the standings by focusing on the improvements they can make.
“I always look forward to the Monaco E‑Prix.
“It’s one of the best races of the year, and a track where we have been really competitive previously – not least last season – and we are aiming for a positive result once more.” – Mitch Evans speaking to Jaguar TCS Racing
Evans has had excellent performances over the past few years in the drivers’ championship, so he will likely be questioning the car’s performance.
He has finished second, third, and second in the last three years, showing excellent talent.
Additionally, Evans will work with his team to figure out how to optimise the car’s set-up.
“The past couple of seasons in Monaco have provided plenty of great memories for me ‑ including taking my first victory in the Principality in Season 9 and helping the team achieve an historic 1‑2 finish last year ‑ but we need to focus on the present and ensure we deliver.
“The aim is to get the Jaguar I‑TYPE 7 in the right window to secure a strong points haul this weekend.” – Nick Cassidy talking to Jaguar TCS Racing
Cassidy’s focus on the present conveys his determination not to let his poor results so far define his season.
Furthermore, the return of the Pit Boost for the Monaco E-Prix will allow him to strategise effectively.
At this point in 2024, Cassidy had scored four podiums, including a win in the second race in Jeddah. His highest finish of 2025 so far is a fifth-place finish at the second race in Jeddah, yet again.
The Kiwi will similarly wish to replicate his strong performances at Monaco this year by scoring a podium.
Qualifying around the Principality is not as important as it is in Formula 1, as the GEN3 EVO car is smaller and narrower. The chance of overtaking is higher, so if Cassidy’s poor qualifying continues, it will not be impossible to gain positions.
His mindset does not seem to be shaken by his lack of points, conveying his clear focus and motivation. He should be able to score big points and impress again with his excellent performance.
Jaguar’s best performance in Monaco was last year’s 1-2, which was the team’s first-ever win in the Principality. They are also the only team in Formula E history to score a 1-2 for their team in Monaco.
Evans has claimed four podiums from five events in a row around the streets of Monte Carlo. Cassidy has also tasted success around motorsport’s most famous street circuit, winning in 2023 for Envision Racing. Both drivers will hope to overcome the car’s struggles and let their driving and talent do the talking.
Jaguar powertrains have had a perfect success rate around Monte Carlo in this GEN3 era, winning every race. They will likely continue this record by scoring another win on this city circuit.
The British team is one of two teams to have scored over 100 points here.
“Monaco E‑Prix is a track where we’ve seen great success in the past, and it feels like a home race for Mitch and Nick who are both extremely fast around these famous streets.
“Although we didn’t take away points from Miami, we did learn a lot about the Jaguar I‑TYPE 7 and look forward to applying those learnings in Monaco.” – Jaguar TCS Racing team principal James Barclay
Jaguar and the rest of the grid are set for an exciting race at this historic venue for a double-header race.
Racing begins on May 3 with FP1, where all 22 drivers will explore the characteristics of the Monte Carlo.
