Gresini MotoGP rider Marc Marquez has recently given a lot of positive comments about Moto3 championship leader David Alonso describing him as a ‘sponge’, implying how receptive he has been to the improvements made. The comments he made came after he spent time training at the Aspar circuit in Spain, where he worked alongside young and talented riders, including David Alonso.

He wanted to try it out during the track day with his brother Alex Marquez, Ivan Ortola and Jaume Masia from Moto3, and Maximo Quiles from Red Bull Rookies Cup. The session was in Marquez’s favor since he could watch and communicate with him, and the young Colombian did not leave the commands unappreciated.

Impressive Young Talent

Reflecting on the training day, Marc Marquez highlighted David Alonso’s rapid development and eagerness to learn, he stated;

He’s a rider that I was training with him and Maximo Quiles. Both of them are super young and talented. You say something to them at the beginning of the day, and by the end of the day, they are doing better than you. This is something really nice.

Marc Marquez noted that David Alonso’s ability to take feedback and immediately apply it to his performance was truly exceptional. He also admired his and Quiles’ relentless energy and enthusiasm during the demanding training sessions, he said;

They give me that young spirit, Marquez said. Even in my career, I’ve crashed a lot and trained hard, but I need that youthful energy to push myself to the limit. It was a pleasure for me to experience that.

The high temperatures and intense training conditions only seemed to enhance David Alonso’s drive and determination. It is always been an adventurous experience for Marc. He had several crashes in his career, he has been through lots of ups and downs, which kept him motivated.

David Alonso’s Rising Star

David Alonso is proving his worth this season, especially in the Moto3 championship rounds where he is leading 70 points ahead of Dani Holgado with only 13 rounds. That hard work has rewarded him with graduation to the Moto2 with Aspar team for season 2025 replacing Jake Dixon and moving to Marc VDS.

This is a very defining moment in his career especially the announcement of his promotion to the post of him. It has also used vivid examples to explain his good performance in both training and competitions and how this has impressed his team and even other competitors. Thus, the decision of the Aspar team and the move of Alonso to Moto2 can be explained by the fact that the team recognizes the talent of the sportsman.

Future Plans

Not only that, David moved up to Moto2 but the Aspar team also revealed that Dani Holgado will be part of the team. This combination of riders aims to bring excitement and intense competition to the Moto2 racing arena, where both racers seek to build on their previous successes.

Marc Marquez’s glowing comments about him underscore the young rider’s exceptional abilities and the bright future ahead of him in MotoGP. As he prepares for his next challenge in Moto2, his performance and dedication continue to impress seasoned veterans and fans alike.
