AUSTIN, Texas – Christopher Bell outlasts a trio of competitors to claim his second Cup Series victory in a row.
In the closing laps at Circuit of The Americas, Bell passed Kyle Busch for the lead and held off a hard-charging William Byron and Tyler Reddick, who finished less than a second behind at the checkered flag.
“That was almost a deja vu of last year,” reflected Bell. “I had the track position that time. Man, these road course races are just so much fun. Whenever Kyle was leading, I was just trying to be so cautious. Obviously, we know what happened last year. I didn't want that to happen. I wanted to pass him clean. Just super proud for everyone on this DeWalt No. 20 team.
“We didn't count last week. Last week was a speedway. We didn't have that one circled. We definitely had this one circled. I'm ready to keep adding to it.”
Byron, who won this year’s Daytona 500, finished second to claim the championship points lead after three races in the 2025 schedule.
“I feel like the battle between (Bell) and Busch, I was just sitting there waiting for one of them to bobble or slide their tires,” Byron shared after the race. “Bell got by him and I felt like once he got by him and clear, his car was super loose and it kind of gave me a couple of shots at him. I just couldn’t ever get beside him. We have always raced really well together, so I didn’t want to move him blatantly.
“A lot of races ahead and hopefully we can just keep bringing this speed.”

Polesitter and 2023 race winner Reddick finished third after a late race charge through the field. Chase Elliott, who spun in the opening corner of the race from contact with Ross Chastain, climbed back up to fourth. Kyle Busch rounded out the top five.
Shane Van Gisbergen, Chris Buescher, Noah Gragson, Alex Bowman and Todd Gilliland completed the top 10 finishers.
AJ Allmendinger was fighting for the win toward the end of the race, but fell out of the top five and dropped to 30th. Stage 2 winner Ryan Preece ran out of fuel and dropped to 33rd at the end. Connor Zilisch made his Cup Series debut with Trackhouse Racing and after winning yesterday’s Xfinity Series race crashed out after colliding with teammate Daniel Suárez to finish 37th, last on the grid.
The NASCAR Cup Series heads to Phoenix Raceway for its first visit west for the Shriners Children’s 500 (312 laps, 312 miles). Coverage begins at 3:30 p.m. ET on Mar. 9 with FS1, MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
