Donald Trump targets Bubba Wallace, calls noose incident a 'hoax'

Donald Trump really just likes to stir the pot on social media. In his most recent tweet, the guy who sits in the White House directly targeted Bubba Wallace after his story has largely died down over the past week.

A noose was found in Wallace's garage stall last month at Talladega SuperSpeedway, and the FBI launched a full investigation into the incident. The FBI concluded that no federal crime was committed and the reported noose in the garage stall was in there as early as October of 2019. Investigators concluded that it was not a threat to Wallace, and the case is no longer being pursued as a hate crime.

Trump criticized Wallace and called the noose incident a "hoax" while also calling for him to apologize to his fellow NASCAR drivers who showed support for him when the noose was found.

The tweet wasn't entirely about Wallace, either, nor was it factual. Trump criticizes NASCAR's decision to ban the confederate flag from all events due to its offensive nature and ties to slavery.

NASCAR distancing itself from the confederate flag was an incomplete solution and was met with displeasure, as many fans outside the track last month waved and displayed it. A plane even flew above the track pulling a banner of a Confederate flag that said "Defund NASCAR."

Trump saying NASCAR's ratings are down makes him sound entirely misinformed, too. The sports television ratings were actually higher after they banned the confederate flag.
