Kyle Busch Reveals Why He Never Raced in Formula 1 and How It Gives Off 'Princess Vibes'

Kyle Busch isn’t shy when it comes to speaking his mind—especially when comparing the world of NASCAR to Formula 1. During a candid conversation on Bert Kreischer’s cooking show, the two-time Cup Series champion opened up about why he never made the leap to F1 and what he really thinks about the culture surrounding the sport.

“I’m turning 40,” Busch admitted. “So the time might’ve passed. But in my prime, around 33 to 38, I probably could’ve done it… I was good. I could have done it. I’m just too big.” Standing at 6’1” and weighing 200 pounds, Busch explained that F1 drivers are often “littler guys” —closer to ‘jockeys.’

But beyond physical constraints, Busch pointed to a deeper difference: culture.

Isn’t it wild that F1 has this princess vibe?” Kreischer mused. “Like the Prince of Monaco was there. ‘What are you wearing?’ And most of them aren’t even fans—they just want to be seen.”

Busch agreed, throwing in his own take: “It’s kind of like going to the Super Bowl,” he said, “but just for the parties. You’re not there for the game. You just want to be seen.”

His perspective cuts through the glitz and glamour of F1, calling out what he sees as the sport’s growing focus on exclusivity. While Formula 1 has evolved into a global spectacle—where glammed-up guests gather as much for the event as the race itself—Busch’s loyalty remains with NASCAR, where authenticity and passionate fans take center stage.

As Kreischer pointed out, “There's no one at a NASCAR race by accident,” and Busch couldn’t have agreed more. “They want to be there. To see it. To witness it. To be a part of it,” he said.

The contrast speaks volumes. Where F1 plays to the elite, NASCAR thrives on its grassroots appeal and diehard supporters. It’s a culture that’s tough to beat, as Busch pointed out his signature humor.

He added, “We’re a bunch of rednecks that run in circles.”

And just when it seemed like the conversation couldn’t get any more entertaining, Busch summed it all up: “F1 reminds me a little bit of the Kentucky Derby. All the girls in hats and dresses. You know? Princess vibes.”
