Another driver has been added to the entry list for the 68th running of the Daytona 500.
On Tuesday, Beard Motorsports announced that Anthony Alfredo will attempt to qualify for the "Great American Race" in the No. 62 Chevrolet. Alfredo is not guaranteed a starting spot in the race and must either qualify on time during Daytona 500 qualifying on Feb. 11 or race his way into the 500 in his duel race on Feb. 12.
Alfredo, a 26-year-old driver from Ridgefield, Conn., has made 43 Cup Series starts and 151 starts in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series. He's made three Cup Series starts at Daytona, including the 2021 and 2024 Daytona 500. In his two Daytona 500 starts, Alfredo finished 32nd and 27th, respectively. The latter of those two starts came with Beard Motorsports.
Alfredo and the No. 62 Beard Motorsports entry marks the sixth expected open entry for the Daytona 500. Currently, six entries are expected to compete for the final four spots in the Daytona 500 field, with two drivers expected to be sent home.

Alfredo may not be able to earn a spot in single-car qualifying, but he's a talented superspeedway racer and will certainly have a shot to race his way into the field in his duel race.
