ARCA team's trailer flips, equipment damaged in crash on I-80

Clubb Racing Inc. suffered a major setback following Friday's ARCA Menards Series race at Iowa Speedway.

On the way home from the track — which is located in Newton, Iowa — on Interstate 80, the truck and trailer carrying the team's No. 03 Ford was involved in an accident, which resulted in the trailer flipping onto its side.

"Really bad night coming home along I80 in Illinois," the team said in a social media post early on Saturday morning. "Thankfully everyone involved is ok. Unfortunately most if not all of our equipment for the #03 is destroyed."

Alex Clubb, the team owner and driver of the No. 03 car, told Frontstretch.com that his friend was driving the truck and fell asleep, which led to the accident.

For a small ARCA team such as Clubb Racing, equipment damage on such a scale could be devastating, especially with the next race on the ARCA Menards Series calendar scheduled for Aug. 8 in Watkins Glen, New York.

Clubb piloted the No. 03 to a 20th-place finish at Iowa on Friday, while the team's other driver, Colby Evans, finished 23rd in his ARCA Menards Series debut. Clubb is sixth in the ARCA Menards Series standings through 12 races this season.
