Go ahead and add another to the list of drivers unhappy with Carson Hocevar. Austin Dillon was fuming with Hocevar after the Spire Motorsports driver slammed the wall off Turn 10 on Lap 4 of Sunday’s Chicago Street Race.
Hocevar’s car was junked after the contact, and it spun out of control right in front of Dillon. It’s a tough part of the street course for spotters, and the result was a seven-car pileup. Dillon had quite the insult for Hocevar after the incident.
“Carson Hocevar is the biggest dumbass in the entire sport,” Dillon said on his radio, via Steven Taranto of CBS Sports.
Dillon’s team responded, “Yep. Everybody knows it buddy.” Dillon then accused Hocevar of wiping out a good chunk of the field: “Wiped out into 10 and just wiped out half the field.”
Dillon is upset and you can understand why, seeing that his race is over after not even four laps. For Dillon, it was simply wrong place at the wrong time.
It’s especially unfortunate for Hocevar, who had shown to have a fast No. 77 Chevrolet. He started on the front row but quickly lost spots after the race went green. Then, he spun out at a tricky spot on the street course. Like Dillon, he is out of the race.
Hocevar’s DNF means he is eliminated from the NASCAR In-Season Tournament. Tyler Reddick will advance to Round 3 next Sunday at Sonoma Raceway.
