BJ McLeod initially missed the Daytona 500 after finishing 19th in his duel race on Thursday evening. The Wauchula, Florida, native was set to go home after 18th-place finisher Anthony Alfredo beat him and JJ Yeley to take the final spot on the grid.
But Alfredo's finish was disallowed by NASCAR after it was found in post-race inspection that two hoses were not properly installed. After McLeod's No. 78 Chevrolet passed post-race inspection, he was officially in the field for the 68th Daytona 500 (2:30 p.m. ET Sunday, Fox, MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).
"Obviously, it feels awesome," McLeod told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. "I want to race my way in, three-wide coming to the checkered or something. I'll take it however we can get it. Ultimately, we had to prepare to be here and that's what our guys have done. We're going to get to go be a part of the best stock car race in the world on Sunday, and I couldn't be more excited."

Sunday will mark the 150th Cup Series start for the 42-year-old driver and his first Daytona 500 since 2023. McLeod failed to qualify for the "Great American Race" in 2024 and 2025.
In 11 Cup Series starts at Daytona, McLeod has two top-10 finishes, both of which came in the track's summer race. His best Daytona 500 result was 19th in 2019.
