Bubba Wallace scolds ‘f*cking dumbass’ Christopher Bell after multi-car wreck at Atlanta

Christopher Bell went for a spin and hit the outside wall of Turn 4 during Saturday’s Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway (Atlanta). Several other drivers were caught up in the mess, including Bubba Wallace.

Wallace, who made contact with Bell as he slid down the racetrack, had some choice words for him on the radio: “Christopher Bell is a f*cking dumbass. That’s what he gets.”

Bell and Ryan Blaney sustained major damage in the multi-wreck on Lap 57. The latter is done for the night. Wallace, meanwhile, is still in the race, though he fell one lap down.

But where Wallace is right now is a lot better than most of the drivers in the field. Why? Well, just 12 laps later, the “Big One” arrived. In total, 23 drivers — a record for Atlanta — were involved in a massive pile-up down the backstretch. Wallace was racing in the back of the pack and somehow managed to make it through. He is still a lap down, though he will take that over being out of the race for good.

That wreck had major implications on the In-Season Challenge. Daniel Suárez was involved and is in the garage. Wallace’s Round 1 matchup was against Suárez, so the 23XI Racing driver’s chances of advancing to Round 2 seem good — for now.

Bubba Wallace in need of strong run at Atlanta

Beyond the bracket, Wallace just needs a good run to right the ship. Wallace entered the race just 29 points in the clear of the playoff cutline. The six top 10s are encouraging, yes, but they’re accompanied by six DNFs.

23XI, in general, has been inconsistent in 2025. Wallace talked prior to the race about regaining some momentum.

“I was able to come down and play golf yesterday with some McDonald’s people. Had a lot of fun,” Wallace said. “Was able to kind of just escape from racing for a little bit. That helps. Now, we’re back on track. You can’t change the path. Focus on what’s ahead. I hope my car starts. We’ll get out of this little slump that we’re in and get back on track.”
