Bubba Wallace spins Kyle Larson with 2 laps to go, has issue on pit road at Richmond

Joey Logano was chasing down Martin Truex Jr. for the win at Richmond and then Bubba Wallace spun out Kyle Larson! With only two laps to go in the NASCAR Cup Series race, Wallace sent Larson around as the two raced in the top-5.

Immediately after this incident, Bubba Wallace had an issue on pit road the set him back. The thing is, Wallace wasn’t necessarily to blame for the Larson incident. Larson’s car started to handle poorly, got loose, and Wallace was there with speed.

This completely changes the race as Denny Hamlin comes out of pit road in the lead for an overtime restart.

The irony of all of this, Bubba Wallace paid more for this than Kyle Larson. Wallace had a botched pit stop and would finish P13 after having a career-best performance at Richmond most of the night.

Meanwhile, Larson only lost two positions from spinning out. Then he went on pit road and his crew gave him an insanely fast pit stop. He went from P7 to P4 and then finished the race P3.

After the race, Wallace came up to Larson and apologized for the incident.

Bubba Wallace comes up short of career-best finish at Richmond

Coming into this race, Bubba Wallace had a career-best finish of P12 at Richmond. Short tracks have been a learning curve for Wallace. He has to get more consistent. After qualifying P5 this weekend, he went on to race in the front of the pack for most of the night.

Wallace easily had a top-5 car and was trying to finish in the top-5 where he belonged. However, that final pit stop and overtime restart finished all hopes of that. Instead of having a career-best finish inside of the top-10, Wallace finished P13. One spot short of his best.

Surprisingly, the only driver upset after this race was Martin Truex Jr. Well, he was the only one upset enough to drive his car into two other drivers. Truex was upset with Larson and Denny Hamlin, the race winner.

On the final overtime restart, Hamlin would beat Truex to the punch. Then, he got physical going into Turn 2 and ended up taking the win. It was rough and tumble racing between two teammates. Truex did not appreciate it.

Despite their past, Bubba Wallace and Kyle Larson are on the same page here. A small incident, and besides, it worked out in the end for Larson, the one who was ultimately wronged.
