Bubba Wallace Uses 1 Word To Describe Sunday's Bristol Race

It can be hard to make up ground in NASCAR's Cup Series and Bubba Wallace found that out all too well at Sunday's Food City 500 in Bristol.

After looking like he might be in line for a top-10 performance, the 23XI driver got caught up in traffic and just couldn't quite break free despite his best efforts.

Taking to social media after the race, Bubba admitted to fans that it was a long day on the track. But he kept things in perspective by sharing a lighthearted moment he had with his wife on their way out of Tennessee.

"Damn that was rough," Wallace said. "Thought it was going alright and then just plateaued. Hearing my wife make Becks laugh on the way to plane. Made me realize, oh well move on. Nothing better than hearing that! ... See yall in dega, I'm out."

With this weekend's result, Wallace stayed firm in the eighth spot in points — right behind his teammate and last year's regular season champion Tyler Reddick.

Bubba will have to shake this one off ahead of next Sunday's Jack Links 500 at Talladega Superspeedway. A place that holds a special place in his heart considering its where he got his first Cup Series win back in 2021.

Outside of another victory at the Hollywood Casino 400 the following year, its been a little quiet for he and the No. 23 team. But he's racked up quite a few really solid finishes in recent years and continues to be a threat every time they fire up the engines.

We'll see what he's able to do at his old stomping grounds as he looks to continue moving up the points standings with good performance at 'Dega.
