Carson Hocevar can't 'buy Ricky Stenhouse Jr. a Hallmark card' amid ongoing feud

LONG POND, Pennsylvania -- After instigating two incidents over the last three races, Carson Hocevar knows there's nothing he can do or say to resolve things immediately with Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

The second-year driver noted that he and Stenhouse Jr. had yet to talk about a heated conversation — most of which was carried out by Stenhouse Jr. — in Mexico City after Hocevar spun Stenhouse Jr. in the closing laps.

"I just locked up in a dumb spot," Hocevar said on Saturday regarding the incident in Mexico City. "It was just dumb. Just a mistake that didn't need to happen."

With the score 2-0 in favor of Stenhouse Jr., Hocevar doesn't believe there's anything that he could say to fix what has already happened.

"There's nothing I could do or say," Hocevar said. "I can't go buy him a Hallmark card or make things better."

Hocevar wouldn't be surprised if Stenhouse Jr. chooses to enact revenge soon.

"The scorecard has it that I'm getting something from the No. 47 at some point," Hocevar said. "I think my team and everybody kind of knows that. But at the same time, it's ideally just the 47. It's not open-hunting season on the 77 because of these incidents. It's kind of oscillated to when the 47 has a moment where he wants to take a shot, it's just like, okay, that's probably fair. But with everybody else, my team has assured me that this isn't open-hunting season. We're going to race like we've raced. Let's just not create more enemies.

"You live in the world you make for yourself, and this is the world we've made."

Hocevar and Stenhouse Jr. will start third and 30th, respectively, in Sunday's Great American Getaway 400 at Pocono Raceway.
