Carson Hocevar isn't too concerned about his fellow NASCAR Cup Series drivers enacting revenge on him.
Hocevar made an aggressive move during an overtime restart in Sunday's Autotrader 400 at Atlanta, trying to force a three-wide move for the lead that simply wasn't there. The result was a hard crash for Christopher Bell.
It's the latest in a long line of controversial moments for the third-year driver. Denny Hamlin said Monday that things "would come back around" for the 23-year-old driver.
In a Tuesday interview with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Hocevar explained why he's not seriously concerned after the possibility of retribution.
"I think we all just race," Hocevar said. "I think everyone races me very aggressively at times, and I feel like I do the same. Obviously, I'm probably a little bit more on the take side, but I think Bowman Gray and Daytona and Atlanta, it was very calculated in what I wanted to do.
"Obviously that green-white-checkered [at Atlanta], when you have two Toyotas in front of you [and] three Chevys behind you, I'm going to be getting pushed very aggressively. I was probably thinking I could find the middle there. For how fast I got shot in there, it was open. When you're making split second decisions, you have to be committed one way or another. I feel like a lot of times when you're half as-ing it, that's when you tend to find yourself in trouble more times than not."
The good news for Hocevar? He's been fast to open the season, finishing fourth at Atlanta and finding himself fourth in the Cup Series standings through two races.
