Chase Briscoe paces NASCAR Cup Series practice at Michigan

Chase Briscoe was the fastest man in the Irish Hills on Saturday morning.

Briscoe was fastest in Saturday's NASCAR Cup Series practice session at Michigan International Speedway, laying down a best lap of 36.832 seconds.

Christopher Bell, Chris Buescher, Alex Bowman and Austin Dillon rounded out the top five, with William Byron, Tyler Reddick, Denny Hamlin, Bubba Wallace and Carson Hocevar completing the top 10.

Briscoe will be going for his third consecutive pole award in qualifying after winning the pole position at Charlotte and Nashville. He also won the pole for the season-opening Daytona 500.

Other notable practice results include Coke 600 winner Ross Chastain in 14th, Kyle Larson in 16th, Chase Elliott in 17th, Nashville winner Ryan Blaney in 26th and Kyle Busch in 32nd.

Shane van Gisbergen, Reddick and Blaney all suffered tire issues during the session stemming from low air pressure. Similar issues plagued multiple drivers, including van Gisbergen, during practice at Kansas Speedway on May 10.

Cup Series qualifying is next, with coverage on Prime Video and MRN. The FireKeepers Casino 400 will go green shortly after 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, with coverage on Prime Video, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Reddick is the defending winner.
