
Chase Briscoe was the fastest man in Tennessee on Friday afternoon.
The full-time Cup Series driver with Joe Gibbs Racing paced NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series practice at Bristol Motor Speedway Friday afternoon, driving the No. 5 Toyota Tundra for TRICON Garage ahead of his one-off NCTS start on Friday evening.
Briscoe laid down a fastest lap of 15.166 seconds around the half-mile oval.
Truck Series points leader Kaden Honeycutt was second-fastest, with Carson Hocevar, Tanner Gray and Jake Garcia rounding out the top five. Ben Rhodes, Cole Butcher, defending Bristol spring winner Chandler Smith, Tyler Ankrum and Andres Perez completed the top 10.
Other notable practice results include Rockingham winner Corey Heim in 12th, Ross Chastain in 13th, Ty Majeski in 17th, Kyle Busch in 18th and Layne Riggs in 19th.
Cup Series driver Christopher Bell was 23rd-fastest, with 2023 Daytona 500 winner Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in 26th. Clayton Green was the slowest driver in the session, ranking 36th on the speed chart with a fastest lap of 16.372 seconds.
Truck Series qualifying is next on FS2. The Tennessee Army National Guard 250 will go green shortly after 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday, with coverage on FS1, NRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
