Chase Briscoe may be the most recent winner in the NASCAR Cup Series, but it will take some convincing for his son, Brooks, to become a full-fledged Briscoe fan.
According to Briscoe, Noah Gragson has become Brooks' favorite driver, and ironically, it's Gragson who is matched up with Chase Briscoe in the first race of the NASCAR In-Season Challenge at EchoPark Speedway on Saturday.
"Noah is like that uncle you take your kid to, and he has Pop-Tarts and ice cream and everything else when he's with him — every candy you try to not give your kid," Briscoe said, laughing, during a news conference on Friday. "Brooks definitely loves Noah for that reason. Every time he's around him, he's getting sugared up like nobody's business. Brooks definitely likes Noah."
Gragson's status as Brooks' favorite driver adds a fun, wholesome twist to the battle between Gragson and Chase Briscoe to advance to the second round of the inaugural In-Season challenge, which offers $1 million to the winner.
"It'll be fun to go up against (Noah) this weekend," Briscoe said.
Should Gragson win the $1 million prize, he'll have the opportunity to buy Brooks plenty more sweet treats to convince him to not join his dad's fan club.
Chase Briscoe and Gragson will start 10th and 27th, respectively, in Saturday's Quaker State 400.
