NASCAR has continued to grow in popularity all around the world, especially after its multiple attempts to increase the sport’s reach. The sport is trying to increase international races and reach the untouched markets. Amid this, Chase Elliott, who has enjoyed an extremely consistent performance this year, has shared his thoughts on how to increase NASCAR’s demand even more.

Chase Elliott has suffered from only one DNF in the 2025 season and has cleared his spot in the playoffs. Elliott also remains one of the better drivers on the grid as he has qualified for the playoffs nine times out of the ten years of his racing in NASCAR. Despite the increasing demand for NASCAR, many drivers still do not sit right with the playoff format or the race schedule.

Many drivers have also criticized the Next Gen cars and their unpredictability while driving on the track. Moreover, the drivers only had one off weekend throughout the entire regular cup series. As such, Chase Elliott talked about increasing the off-weekends for the drivers and providing them with some more time off the track and with their families.

Chase Elliott insisted that adding more off-weekends in NASCAR would be a ‘win’ for everyone involved in the sport. This would also make normal people hungrier and crave a life like a NASCAR driver. Elliott reiterated that it would be ‘healthy’ for the sport and its people if they were to add more off-weekends.

Increasing the off-weekends for everyone, and I think it would be a win for everyone and make people hungrier for what we have and what we do. So I think it’ll be a healthy thing.

Chase Elliott said on The Teardown podcast.

Chase Elliott credits truck drivers for their ‘incredible job’

NASCAR is raced around multiple American locations, with the freight being driven to each and every race. Even during the Mexico Cup Race, the teams had to send the cars and goods via trucks and haulers. As such, Chase Elliott paid his due diligence to the unsung heroes who aren’t credited for all the work they have to do during a NASCAR season.

Chase Elliott sympathized with the truck drivers responsible for hauling goods all around the racing destinations and insisted that he gave them a lot of credit for their work. Elliott recalled the moving of goods from Mexico to Pocono, which was over 2.5k miles and ‘incredible’. The 29-year-old further added that he felt terrible for how long the people had to drive and move the goods, as he believed that they were the ones keeping the sport going.

Like the truck drivers and the guys that are on the road constantly. I think that would definitely be a really tough spot. I give those guys a lot of credit, like that whole Mexico City to Pocono (2,528 miles) deal this year was just incredible. I felt terrible for what they had to endure to make those shows go on. And they are the reason the show does go on, and I think that’s always important to remember.

Chase Elliott noted.

The 2025 season of NASCAR has peaked in terms of competition and excitement at the forefront. The playoffs are next, as many fans will be eager to witness how their favorite driver pans out in the playoffs. The sport will be bound to listen to the criticism at some point in time and bring changes to the sport according to the feedback given by the drivers and fans.
